Starting a Blog. Do I have what it takes?

Throughout my life I've collected a few quotes that I've turned into my own personal mantras. One of my favorites has always been, "The only thing constant in life is change".  With this phrase in mind, and with some encouragement from a surprising source - who shall remain anonymous - I've decided to go for it.  This being my first attempt at expressing my thoughts on this vast 'blog-o-sphere', only time will tell if I am actually any good at doing so.

Step 1: Decide on a concept.
So, the first step to starting a blog is deciding on a concept for the blog - what will I write about?  I think the most appropriate topic for my first blog should be about change.  The way I see it, if the focus is on the concept of change - in my life, in the world, in ideas - I'll most certainly always have something to write about. (Disclaimer: Change is good, but this does not guarantee that my posts always will be!)

Step 2: Naming the blog.
I spent about a week deciding if I could/should start a blog and if I did, what I'd call it.  Lots of ideas bounced around in my head but I finally settled on calling it 'State of Flux'.  It's not cute or catchy but it does have the ability to encompass a wide range of topics, which, in turn, allows me more freedom to write about topics that I feel are in a state of flux.

Step 3: Compose a post.
Thus far, this has been my biggest obstacle.  I often worry too much about what people may think, or if anyone would really care about what I have to say. However, regardless of this fear, I'm going to write. Not for anyone else; just for me.  If you enjoy it, read it.  If you don't, ignore it. Hakuna Matata!

Step 4: Get into the groove.
Consistency is key. What's the point of having a blog if you never update it? As such, I am making a promise to myself to stay motivated and disciplined in writing new posts.
Step 5: Stick with it.
I've been writing in journals, on and off, throughout my life.  I've always found it to be a great stress reliever.  When things weigh heavily on my mind, when I am feeling overwhelmed by life, I find a sense of peace and relief when I'm able to express my frustrations.  However, this blog will not be used for my stress relief, in fact, it will be used to keep my communication skills sharp.  It will allow me to describe the world as I experience it. It will allow me to document my life for anyone who cares enough to read it, which will most likely be just me.

Here's what you can expect from the content of this blog:
- An introduction of myself. Who I am, where I am, where I am headed...to infinity...and Beyond!
- My current state of flux - and as of late, there is quite a lot to write about on this topic!
- My experiences traveling the world
- Current, or past events that move me to write
